Mary Ellen Butts

Butts and a group of eleven other teachers' "Connections to Community" project gives eighth grade students an opportunity to promote peace in their community. Students work on a number of projects that include conflict resolution strategies, writing their own lyrics to \We Shall Overcome and promoting and organizing a 6K Peace Walk/Run for the community. The students learn how to be good citizens and to work with other members of the community to promote this same attitude.
