Waikiki Elementary School

Fairchild’s innovative teaching idea, “Let’s Make a Makerspace,” is focused on building a Makerspace to the Waikiki School library. A Makerspace is a specially-designed space where students have the freedom to use their creativity to design wonderful, original creations of each student’s choice. A plethora of supplies is at the disposal for “Makers” to use to make their vision a reality, encouraging students to explore, tinker and even fail — teaching them the importance of trying again. Fairchild believes that with all of the standardized testing in modern-education, a Makerspace provides the opportunity for students to ignite their creative side, while teaching them to work collaboratively and responsibly.
