Haraf and Davis’s innovative teaching idea “CrossFit,” is focused on incorporating CrossFit conditioning into the school’s curriculum to help shape children's lives, prevent health issues, build self-esteem and provide a life-long definition of fitness. As recent CrossFit affiliates, the two teachers say that they will be using it as the main part of the physical education program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The major objectives of using the CrossFit foundation are to teach students functional, life-long fitness that enhances the 10 general physical skills: cardio respiratory endurance, strength, stamina, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, accuracy, agility and balance. In addition, the teachers believe it will help students develop their bone and muscle growth and cognitive development. Functional movements are implemented in a fun, safe and engaging manner. This embeds good movement patterns, improves health and supports greater learning.
