DiGiovanni's "Band on the Web" program is the skillful combination of music and technology. The "Band on the Web" initiative allows his 220 band and guitar students in the fourth through eighth grades to use audio recording technology to document the process of making music from inception of a musical concept (or piece of music) to the completion of that concept (or performance of that piece). By recording their rehearsals and performances and posting them on the school's website, students will begin to see music as a journey and not just a means to an end. Students also will be able to share their achievements with their peers, family members and friends who access the school's website to hear their work. DiGiovanni hopes that this 'music meets technology' program will motivate students and boost their sense of pride in their accomplishments. DiGiovanni resides in Easton, Penn.
