Terry Johnston

Johnston's "Building Bridges" is a year-long project that gives parents materials and techniques to use at home with their children to improve student motivation and achievement. This year, the project has two main programs. Offered free and held in the school's mini-lab, "Adult Computer Classes" cover computer basics, including word processing and the Internet. "Luggage for Learning" takes math and language-arts activities into selected neighborhoods biweekly to share with parents. By offering skills and materials, the project breaks down barriers and empowers parents to become a stronger education resource for their children.
