Edwards Elementary School

Green’s innovative teaching idea, “K-5 Learning with Robots,” is focused on creating a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning class for students in grades K-5 through the use of robotics activities, a class typically only offered in middle and high schools. Green would like to increase student interest and understanding of engineering, programming, math and science, and believes children are avid, eager STEM learners with endless questions and curiosities about the world. This program provides the opportunity to embrace their curiosity and enthusiasm for technology to support and nurture concepts in math, science, engineering and computer language through play-based activities, using a variety of robotics programs. Students will meet weekly, working in pairs or groups to program robots to respond to problems and challenges, and will later share what they have learned with parents, peers and the community.
