Susan Schwartz

Schwartz's winning "Podcasting World History and Geography" program will develop the writing and technology skills of seventh and eighth-grade English Language Learner Students at Marsh Grammar School. Students will write historical fiction about Ancient India and Ancient China that allow them to apply specific language features they have learned in class. They will then transform their stories into podcasts and learn how to edit and add sound effects to them. There will be a partnership with the immigrant students at the Adult Learning Center in Methuen, affording students the opportunity to video tape and interview the center's adult immigrants about the countries they come from after having learned about those countries and regions in Schwartz's class. This program supplements and extends students'textbook learning. All of the edited videos will be posted on Schwartz's teacher Website for a wider audience to enjoy. Schwartz lives in Haverhill.
