Dibble's winning project idea, "Write On," incorporates technology to improve writing for children at Prairie Elementary. In the program, students will take home literacy bags that will include a book, activities and an AlphaSmart computer to improve their writing skills. Students will be asked to use the bag to create a word-processed project such as a book, letter, report, thank you note or journal that they will "publish" on the AlphaSmart computer, which is a portable keyboard computer. Dibble believes that if students know that someone will be reading their writing, it will be of better quality. The English/Spanish dictionary feature of the AlphaSmart will give more support to the minority students, and may have the added benefit of helping the parents learn more English as well. Dibble lives in Fulda.
