Spencer Cody
Cody’s innovative teaching program, “STEM in our National Parks,” strives to completely reinvent the traditional science-themed field trip by utilizing America's greatest natural resources as an exciting and engaging laboratory for science students in grades six through 12. This program could run for one to four years including one to seven field experiences depending on funding. Each field experience will involve 13 select science students from grades six through 12 through an application process that prioritizes need and interest. Each field experience will include a full spring semester of research concerning the park that will be visited and the STEM topic concerning the field experience, culminating in a presentation to their respective grade in which all of their peers will be actively engaged in their research through a hands-on activity concerning the topic developed by the student and coordinated by the project administrator.
