Shelly Ceglar

Ceglar's program, "Our Sister School: Curriculum for Kenya!", is designed to promote cross-cultural awareness and communication with Mt. Iron-Buhl's "sister school" in Nairobi, Kenya. The school's partnership with the Kenyan elementary school was created to expand students' global perspectives by sharing information and resources about their respective communities throughout the year. According to her proposal, teachers would determine the content and topics for their classroom and serve as editors-in-chief for each body of work. Students at Mt. Iron-Buhl ISD #712 will then compile data about Minnesota and exchange cultural ideas through the pages of comprehensive books and multimedia collateral that will be shipped to Nairobi. Ultimately, Ceglar hopes to create a model that can be used each year for schools throughout the region
