Shelina Warren

Warren’s innovative teaching idea, “Validate: Empower,” focuses on The Dunbar Law and Public Policy Academy which will host Mini Civics Weeks of Action, a series of events in the fall and spring that teaches students about civics, law and government and further develops their social and emotional health. The program’s activities include knowledge sharing with guest speakers and participation in local field trips. In addition, with the help of the Voya grant, each student will receive an ETM card and downloadable app as a simulated experience to understand and appreciate money management. Students will earn money on their card by attending Week of Action events, which they can use to purchase academy items or participate in other opportunities, such as the program’s Social Justice Field Trip.
