Shelby Thomas

Thomas' "BBH Ranch" project is a hands-on animal care program that prepares students for a career in animal husbandry. A 1.5-acre pasture with an equipment barn, the BBH Ranch is currently home to five sheep and two goats. Students participating in the project work with the animals, keeping health records, ear-tagging, feeding, and assisting in the birthing process. The students are also responsible for showing the animals in the spring and fall state fairs. The project allows students to gain valuable experience in animal care while motivating them to learn and giving them pride in the ownership of a project.
