Accelere Program

Graham’s innovative teaching idea, “Human and Environment Solution,” is focused on applying the biology, chemistry and physics principles they have learned in the classroom to grow native plants that provide food and shelter for local pollinators. With their habitat shrinking, pollinators, such as honey bees and butterflies are also in decline. Graham says that through the program, students will grow native flora from seeds to be transplanted at their homes, community and state parks and at local secondary educational areas. In the locations where habitat is transformed or reinstated, the students will track the pollinator population with assistance from community partners. Graham says Voya’s grant money will help with the purchase of seeds, growth materials and planting supplies. He believes the program will combine local education with the community to address environmental problems that can benefit students, the community and the environment.
