Wood's "H.E.L.P.: Habitat Enhancement Lake Project" is a collaborative educational program between the Lewisville Independent School District and the Lewisville Aquatic Ecosystem Research Facility. It involves students in hands-on, application-based learning by raising habitat-friendly aquatic plants in the classroom for planting in local reservoirs and wetlands to enhance the habitat. The goal is to develop the pilot program into a replicable initiative that merits statewide implementation. The project also aspires to encourage students to pursue science careers, especially in the environmental area.
