Camlek and her colleagues’ innovative teaching idea, “One World-Linked Learning,” involves examining the past, engaging in the present and connecting students’ futures. The individualized learning program is based on building a strong foundation through projects, performance, and mentored guidance throughout the middle and high school years. Students will create an electronic portfolio and set learning goals that will first help them identify strengths, assets, and focus areas. Each student’s unique talents and abilities will aid in creating a centralized learning plan that has personalized goals and targets for the year. Curriculum will be integrated between all areas, including performing arts and technology. Learning will be connected, engaging, relevant and experimental. Students will also have "voice and choice" in making learning meaningful within a flexible framework that challenges and meets the Common Core standards.
