Tezel’s innovative teaching idea, “Teaching Future Teachers,” focuses on introducing students to the idea of a career in education by tapping into their personal interests and providing them with a combination of direct instruction and in-classroom personal experience. Students will be in a class that explores multiple aspects of teaching, where they will receive a combination of classroom instruction and field experience. The class will be tailored to the individual students, so they are not taking a generic one-size-fits-all education class, but instead the class focuses on the area and age level they are interested in potentially teaching. Education students from area colleges will be asked to stop in and guest lecture in addition to teachers ranging from green to veteran. Ideally the students will also be able to visit area schools to explore a variety of types of classes.
