Parsells Strathy’s innovative teaching idea, “Screen Printing Like a Cricut,” is focused on increasing the school’s investment in its arts studio. The Voya grant will fund the purchase of a color printer and a Cricut Explore 2 system and other printing equipment and supplies needed to expand the school’s Graphic Design program. The color printer will allow students to print finished projects so they can display their artwork, participate in discussions about the art, and submit their work to art exhibitions. The Cricut Explore 2 and the other screen-printing equipment will equip students to draw their unique designs and then scan, upload and print them. They will also be encouraged to use critical thinking skills throughout the multiple steps of the design process.
