"Taking Learning Into Your Own Hands" is the winning program developed by Hubbert that involves large scale food and textiles production that will benefit her Family And Consumer Science classes as well as the members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America student organization. Through a hands-on curriculum, the program will help provide students with the necessary materials to learn about healthy food preparation, sewing projects from new and recycled fabrics, and service learning. It will also incorporate talents from other students, allowing for cross-curriculum activities. For example, accounting and personal finance students will do a cost benefit analysis of what equipment and supplies should be purchased. Additionally, the art department will create the hand batik fabrics and the computer class will help create marketing tools. Hubbert resides in Kearney.
