With gas prices on the rise, Kaiser saw an opportunity to use class concepts in creating a possible solution. Through the "Silence is Golden" program, he assigned students the task of creating an electric car using innovative and creative ideas. Students at the Greene County Career Center are consistent winners at local, regional and national events and Kaiser felt it appropriate to reward them for their hard work with this new and exciting class project. The electric car project will be conducted in 3 stages based on how much money is ultimately raised. In the first stage, students will build an electric car which is battery and motor operated. The second stage includes the production of a "green" machine, including solar panels, aerodynamic and renewable energy concepts to create a hybrid vehicle. For the final stage, students will create a totally electric car that is completely solar charged and runs on no emissions, ideal for the environment. The ultimate goal of the program is to show students that there are other possibilities to powering a vehicle, and ultimately providing opportunities beyond high school for solar innovations. Kaiser is a resident of Huber Heights.
