Robert Deschaine

Lincoln, NE
Pound Middle School
The excitement grew when Deschaine told his students that they were going to become television writers, directors and actors in the "Awesome Heal th Public Service Announcement." After the chatter died down, he explained that the project was to create a thirty second public service announcement (PSA) containing a message that would affect a change in the health behavior of students, parents and the community. Every aspect of the project, including research, planning, camera work and video editing was done by the students. During the project, the students learned how powerful television truly is and how much it influences their everyday lives. This year, 68 PSAs have been produced and will be seen by the student body, parents, teachers and incoming students for next year. They will serve as examples for the next group of eighth-grade health students. Deschaine lives in Martell.
