"Ready, Set, ENGAGE!" is the winning program idea developed by Kobylinski and Tilmon to help math teachers compete for the attention of today's technology-savvy students. The project focuses on building student engagement through interactive, technology-based instruction to make math concepts easier to understand, fun to learn, and exciting to share. Using graphing calculators, emulator software, interactive boards, and digital projectors to enhance instruction, students will explore fundamental algebraic concepts from their current curriculum. Online simulations, slates, personal response systems, and manipulatives will also be used to strengthen their engagement through cooperative learning stations. With the ING grant funds, participants will then transition their experiences to their families and beyond. Students will also begin a new endeavor by taking four, hands-on math lessons into every kindergarten through fourth-grade classrooms at Apple Glen Elementary School. Kobylinski lives in Bella Vista and Tilmon lives in Rogers.
