House's "Shoot for the Stars" mentoring and tutoring project teaches at-risk, special education students to take the leadership role of mastering new technology and expanding the use of this technology throughout their school and community. These students act as tutors for other special education students and train other classmates to use new technology. In addition to use during school hours, this project also includes an after school tutoring/mentoring program sponsored by the special education students. By providing a safe, supervised environment for use after school, all students can benefit from the new technology while they complete their homework. This project enables students to organize and work together to make their school and community a better place.
