Timson's "Climate Curriculum: Comparative Air Quality Project" project engages the student body in a yearlong investigation of air quality, focusing on the question of the covariance of particles with other atmospheric conditions. To complete the project, students collaborate with Hiroshima Misuzugaoka Junior High in Japan. Students from both schools work together to conduct weather investigations, map data collected at field locations, and measure atmospheric particulates. Students and teachers present results at a meeting of the National Science Teachers Association. Along with gaining an understanding of research techniques, students learn about the harmful effects of pollutants in the environment.
