Rebecca Kelley

Kelley's project, "Pathways of Light," gives students the opportunity to learn outside the classroom while assisting in the creation of a nature trail near the school. The project is designed to challenge students' critical thinking and problem solving skills as they assist in the planning and development of the trail. Through library research and collaboration with local plant and animal experts, students learn about the appropriate plants, animals and insects to enhance the trail. Designed to help students discover and appreciate the natural environment surrounding them, the program promotes outdoor exercise and provides a tangible goal and outcome that students can utilize themselves and share with their families and community.
