The team’s innovative teaching project, “Welcome to 4th Grade Ozo!,” integrates Ozobot technology into the curriculum to provide more engaged learning opportunities and real-world experiences. Ozobots are exciting and beneficial to educators because they help build the bridge between coding, engagement and learning. Ozobotos are small, desk-friendly robots that generate information by allowing students to code using an app, website, or by creating their own coding maps with markers. As a Title 1 school with 57.3 percent of their students receiving free and reduced lunch, the educators say the needs for their students differ from other districts. The Voya Unsung Heroes grant will help provide students with new experiences that the fourth grade team could not provide without the funding.
