Vreeland's "Investigating Microgravity: An Inquiry Approach" project teaches students real space science and helps them develop skills for future success. Through this project students learn what it is like to conduct genuine scientific research as they study the behavior of objects in a microgravity, or weightless, environment. The students' projects are showcased at community events, presented at state and national science conventions and are used as part of educational programs at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. This project places students in the role of scientists and encourages them to explore different scientific ideas and principles as they design and conduct their own experiments.
