Patti Shafer

Shafer's "Financial Independence through Technology" project gives graduating seniors a better understanding of the money-management process. Emphasis is placed on using computers to gather information on personal-finance topics, which include researching career opportunities, goal setting, budgeting available funds, investment strategies, managing credit, and planning for a family. Learning is also enhanced by hands-on activities and in-class research sessions. The project teaches students skills that can help them remain financially independent throughout their lives.
