Stevens Middle School
Teaming up with fellow educator Rob Edwards, Durr's "Digital Portfolio Project" focuses on improving student education through the use of technology. Eighth grade students in the program use wireless computers and software to create digital portfolios displaying their academic work and community involvement, including jobs, awards, internships, community service projects, music and athletics. Teachers of various academic disciplines, including technology, language arts, physical education, music and social studies, coordinate to participate in the digital portfolio program and collaborate on integrated assignments. The digital portfolio project provides students with hands-on experience using technology and gives them a positive outlet to showcase their academic and personal accomplishments, while providing parents and members of the community information on school news and individual student progress.
