Schulz's "Reach Out for the Arts" project brings a professional artist to school to serve as an artist in residence to help students reach out and examine the world of visual art through an artist's perspective. Students mount actual exhibits at selected businesses and sites around the community and post virtual exhibits on a project Web site. Students in the project, in collaboration with participating adults, also create a public mural as part of the ongoing "Make Ogallala Beautiful" campaign. The project also provides quality arts training for the teaching staff and helps integrate the visual arts with language arts, social studies, and technology.
