Myles Hebrard

Hebrard's "Taking It to the Streets" program is a service-learning initiative that combines service tasks with structured activities that contribute to the community. Students first participate in a neighborhood clean-up and revitalization program. Students then collect, sort and distribute food and repair dilapidated houses and playground equipment in nearby Appalachian communities. The objective is to affect both the student and the recipient of the service. Students engage in self-reflection, self-discovery and the comprehension of values, skills and exposure to different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
