"Picture Perfect Math" is the winning program idea created by Agueros for first through third-grade students at Ridgeview Elementary School. The program is designed to motivate students, increase learning, and create a positive sharing environment. Participating students will use digital cameras to take pictures of items such as shapes, patterns, expressions, and other math concepts. Using digital imaging software, they will create visual presentations, slide shows, and animations of simple math problems for their classmates to solve. Students will also create video flashcards of clocks to illustrate time, animate word problems to demonstrate multiplication, and take pictures of student drawings to show symmetry. A new aspect of the program is a partnership with the local university. Student groups will be paired with pre-service teachers from the university to post a Website with their sample problems and invite students from other classes in the district and around the world to solve them. Agueros hopes that the program will impact the teaching process by helping teachers integrate technology within their lessons. Agueros lives in Warrensburg.
