"Rub A Dub Dub, Discovery's In The Tub" is Yate's winning program designed to help elementary school teachers incorporate Project Based Learning into the curriculum. Seen as a child-centered instructional strategy, children are encouraged to seek out learning by collaborating on challenging open-ended problems and reflecting on the process and the solutions they reach. This program is comprised of a compilation of tubs of information to help facilitate learning. The tubs will include multi-level lesson plans, materials needed, literature, Website applications, organizations willing to be used as a resource, and more. Examples of some tubs include designing a healthy garden, creating natural disaster kits, a water habitat project, a Daffodil and Tulip project, and an alternative energy source project. Students will integrate technology, story telling, visual presentations and communications skills in a non-competitive fashion in an effort to create a relevant project that can be integrated into their family and community. Teachers will be able to consolidate their curriculum and save time and energy while creating meaningful opportunities to learn. Yates lives in Fort Worth.
