White’s innovative teaching idea, “STEM,” is focused on creating a STEM class that will provide students with the opportunity to integrate the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics while allowing them to explore different areas of interest. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to create solutions to real world problems, use coding to create apps, program robots and create games, design and invent using 3D printers and use technology to help learn important science concepts. The Voya grant will help White provide her class with robotics equipment to allow students to learn science and math concepts through designing and experimenting with robots and their sensors.
