"Yellowstone Adventure" is the winning program created by Miller. It is designed to encourage students in the second grade at West Side Elementary to learn that some of the natural wonders of the world exist all around them. Yellowstone National Park will be the natural wonder the students will explore by discussing changes in matter, changes in the Earth, different wildlife species, and a food chain cycle to name a few. Combining science and social studies, this program will also expose students to the history of Yellowstone and how it was discovered, why it continues to be preserved and the controversial topics about the safe-guarding of the park. The students will, after learning and researching Yellowstone by viewing a DVD about it or actually going there, write a report about their experience and share those writings with other students, parents, and the community. The program will expose students to a natural wonder and an understanding of the need to protect it for themselves and future generations. Miller, a second-grade teacher, lives in Worland.
