Kane's "Outdoor Discovery Core" project offers students a handicapped-accessible schoolyard wildlife habitat study area for hands-on investigation of the natural world. Features include: a stream, native trees and plants, a wildflower and butterfly garden, birdhouses and feeders, and a weather station. By providing opportunities for enhanced instruction in biodiversity and other topics, the project helps students develop critical thinking and other skills that will assist them in making future decisions about the community and the environment.
