Maureen Hoy and Theresa Schmidt

Hoy and Schmidt’s innovative teaching idea, “iTellStorytellers,” is focused on teaching second-grade students the ancient art of sharing stories and events through words, sounds and visual images using tablets equipped with the newest and most effective storytelling apps. The goal of the "iTellStorytellers" project is to create a hands-on laboratory for students to develop storytelling techniques in a manner that supports the essential way people learn to read and write. Hoy and Schmidt believe the program will improve language skills, such as vocabulary, prediction, sequencing, comprehension, story structure and recall, and will give students the confidence to capture their audience and communicate their love for reading.
