The team’s innovative teaching idea, “Towers to Tables — Students Learn to Grow Crops,” focuses on teaching students and teachers how to grow their own food and learn the importance of healthy eating habits. Students and teachers will also learn a sense of community as they learn that regardless of race, gender or economic status, everyone needs healthy food to lead healthy lives. With the Voya Unsung Heroes grant, the team will be able to provide Tower Gardens across the campus, and having each subject area include the curriculum in their classrooms.
