Stanghor's "Dakota's Resources - Wind, Water, Students" project uses Howard's local wind turbines and interaction with energy experts and community leaders to let students explore wind and power generation. Earth Science students look at the basics of wind and power generation, journalism students outline the economic impact of retraining local farm implementers to refurbish and repair wind generators, and chemistry students research alternative forms of energy production such as anaerobic digesters and biodiesel generators. Students develop skills in researching, interviewing, investigation, economic projection, policy development, leadership, organization, and communication.
