Peters' program, "Teen Health Advocates," encourages diverse and underrepresented students to enroll in Physics and higher math in order to become more comfortable using technology, and to model and communicate observations. The project integrates science and math to focus on themes with which students readily identify, for example: ultraviolet radiation monitoring in the natural environment and from tanning beds; obesity and health through EKG monitors; and alcohol abuse and its effects on the body. Findings are presented with PowerPoint in classroom symposia. Brochures and "Flush Flashes" (information posted on bathroom stall doors) are produced to educate students.
