Marjorie Nix

Nix' "Now Hear This!" program encourages students to take part in community learning through the production of audio books. As part of the program, 4th- and 5th-grade students select books that would be of interest to younger children. Providing narration, sound effects, and page cues, the students produce an audio version of their selected books for use by students who are struggling with reading or working to improve their language skills. The program shows students how their actions can help children at their own school and promotes family reading as students take the audio books home to share and read along with their parents.
