Maria Miller
Miller’s innovative teaching idea, “Outdoor Learning Environment,” focuses on learning outside the classroom to make the transition easier from elementary to middle school where outside time is very limited or nonexistent. With the implementation of an Outdoor Learning Environment, students will have the opportunity to learn in a STEAM rich context that will enhance their classroom learning. The Outdoor Learning Environment will have a central stage to perform Reader's Theater, a Music Station with hands-on instruments, an interactive mural, a sun dial, and a yoga area. Through these different activities, students will be able to increase their creativity while spending time outdoors. Miller hopes to give students a chance to enjoy the outdoors and amplify their learning in a STEAM environment.
