Lynne Srull

Srull's winning program, "Canoeing, Kayaking and Water Safety," will add an extra level of learning to the outdoor education units of the physical education program at Jefferson Middle School. Students will learn and demonstrate how to carry, launch and land a canoe and kayak, name the vessels' different parts, name sections of a paddle and how to hold it, properly wear a life jacket, swim a boat to shore, empty a boat, and the different strokes to maneuver the kayak and canoe. This initiative will expand the current program from a two-day program to a three- week program. Annually, it will directly benefit 70-100 of the eighth-grade students at Jefferson Middle School. Srull lives in Champaign.
