Harper’s innovative teaching idea, “Science Comes To Life,” focuses on providing a more hands-on, engaging and interactive science program for the students at Gunter Elementary School. By creating this program, students will be able to express their curiosity and take on more responsibility to build a deeper well of knowledge. With the Voya grant, Harper plans to purchase materials for the interactive science center including a small aquarium, a class pet, science kits and expedition goggles. Harper hopes that these resources will enable her students to have materials to look at, use, and manipulate in real-time, further heightening their knowledge and understanding of science.
