Created by a team comprised of Wamboldt, Kristine Jensen and Diane Ulezelski, "Teen Survival: Voices and Choices" is an education initiative that teaches middle school students media literacy. Students in the production class and the newspaper class integrate skills they have learned in television production and news reporting to communicate their perspectives on teen issues such as tobacco, bullies and family dynamics. Students create a video production that airs on the school television channel and the local cable access station. Because the programs are teen produced, students learn about important issues facing their peers in a language with which they can identify. The show also is available to the elementary schools in the community and is accompanied by lesson plans so teachers may use the information in their classrooms.
