Lutovsky's "Character Education" is a project teaching students the six pillars of character - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and friendship - and how to integrate them into their lives at school and at home. The mission of the project - to teach young people to do what they are supposed to do, persevere, think before they act, and be accountable for the choices they make - is accomplished by modeling examples and teaching it in everyday life. Two surveys on issues such as bullying, daily behavior, and actions that demonstrate lack of character - one in the fall to students and a follow-up survey in the spring to students, staff, and parents - measure the program's success.
