Vaughan's "PEARLS - Preparing Educated Achievable Responsible Ladies for Success" project is a self-esteem female identity program for K-5 girls with behavioral or academic problems. Through five main strategies, the project addresses issues like anger management, conflict resolution, coping skills, career planning, financial planning, and life skills. Program graduates mentor new members one-to-one as each member works with her Individualized Pearls Plan that identifies strengths, weaknesses, goals, and academic objectives. The goal is for all participants to graduate and to maintain average to above-average grades and behavior in the classroom.
