Sugar Land, TX
Colony Bend Elementary School

Crittenden’s innovative teaching idea, “Financial Literacy,” is focused on teaching fifth-grade students about money management and personal financial literacy in an interactive and engaging way. Crittenden will teach the fifth graders about debit and credit cards, taxes, keeping records and balancing a budget. The “ETM machine” and “Ecard System” will allow students to leverage technology — gaining real world experience and taking their financial learning beyond the textbook and classroom. Daily use of this system will promote student engagement, reinforce the curriculum and make classroom management more fun and exciting. This system also will allow students to receive immediate feedback, provide opportunities to make good choices and integrate technology into the daily math lessons.
