Laura Torres-Mejia

Torres-Mejia's project taught students to culminate their elementary school experience by participating in a community service program. Students applied knowledge learned in the classroom to real-life situations, while developing civic values and a sense of community. Students learned how to write a business letter to solicit donations for needy organizations, researched soil erosion control and water recycling, and used mathematical equations to work out the proportions for a large painted mural.
