Latrevia Pratt and Niki Parquet

Pratt’s and Parquet’s innovative teaching idea, “The Aquaculture/Aquaponics Project,” focuses on introducing students to the (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math area of aquaculture, an important field that combines math, science and technology. Their year-long project will involve building and maintaining an aquaponics system in their class, allowing scholars to learn about sustainable agriculture and engineering, while applying math and science concepts. By involving their scholars in this hands-on project, Pratt and Parquet are preparing them with critical thinking, problem-solving and teamworking skills that will help them grow and succeed beyond the classroom.
