Kimberly Puckett

Puckett's "Educating a Community" project teaches ninth through 12th grade students to design and present math and science lessons in the form of children's literature. High school students teach lessons to elementary students by reading a book that is followed by a related science or math lesson. All elementary students are given a copy of the book they used during the lesson to take home and keep. The copy of the book that is brought home provides a tool for open discussion between the elementary students and their parents. The program empowers the high school students to become good community members by allowing them to discover the joy of teaching and learning.
